Tivon was established 1958 following the merger of several neighboring Moshavim (colonial townships). It is located 15km Southeast of Haifa and is 8 419 Dunams (8.4 km2) in size. Tivon was built on land owned by a wealthy British family and borders the popular national park, Beit She'Arim. Much of the original infrastructure was developed by the Jewish National Fund and this can still be seen throughout the town today. Set in a luscious sea of green fields and forests, Tivon is a very popular region for nature lovers and those seeking a quiet oasis away from (yet still close to) the hustle and bustle of Haifa.
