Tel Aviv is the second largest city in Israel at 50 553 Dunams (19.5 sq mi) and is home to over 384 600 people. It's amazing skyline and overwhelming magnitude makes it one of the most popular cities in Israel. The city was established in 1909 mostly as an alternative living area away from the expensive housing in the historical neighboring city of Jaffa. As Tel Aviv began to expand throughout the years as more and more people flocked to the growing city it was decided that the two immediate municipalities should merge; hence the full name of the city being Tel Aviv-Yafo.
