The town of Atlit was established in 1903 by Baron Edmond de Rothschild; known for founding various neighboring communities such as Zichron Yaacov. Previously it had been an area used as an outpost by the crusaders until it was destroyed and abandoned in 1291. The ruins of the citadel built by the crusaders can still be found in Atlit today and provide a great insight into the village's rich history. This small town located near the sea has a population of 4 500 and is close proximity with the Ein Carmel and Neve Yam townships.
For historical archivists and sea lovers alike, Atlit is a beautiful town that is sure to capture your heart.
